I'm Super Excited for...

Okay, I'll be honest. I totally sucked at doing something special for our anniversary this last year. It's so sad, because it was our first anniversary :( Sometimes I just don't know what to do for him anymore, especially really special things. I did have an idea of something to make him, made out of paper (traditional gift), but in the midst of lots of company and hating work and depression, it just didn't happen sadly. SORRY :( and I have been saying I will still make it for him, which I think I am going to make one for my mom and one for Colin for Valentine's day instead.

This is what it is:

I've seen these done in a few different places, but some of the images are from this etsy seller.  Seems pretty easy to do. I just need to sit down and do it! I also got my mom a couple of colanders from Anthropologie. I got her the green and teal ones for Xmas. I got her the red and blue for Vday.

I also really want to make some heart garland like these (sorry I don't have links- I saved the images a while ago):

This, but with hearts.

                                                                     Love it!

BUT! The most exciting news for Valentine's day is:

We are going to Sacramento. Not exactly on V-day, but from 2/18-2/21 since we both have the Monday off. Do you? I had airline miles to use and we looked around at a few different cities during that weekend with non-stop flights and the right times for leaving and coming back and Sacramento it was.

AND! We found a groupon deal for a stay in the nicest place I've ever stayed.

Here's the description:
You get one evening in an Extravagant spa room and a two-hour couple's spa treatment at The Inn at Parkside and the accompanying spa. Housed in the historic Fong Mansion, The Inn and Spa at Parkside pampers pairs of slumberers with lavishly decorated rooms and a rich cornucopia of amenities, including a spa tub, fireplace, large flat-screen TV, and nightmare guards posted at every door. Choose from one of the individually themed Extravagant rooms for your stress-free sleepover, and indulge in a delicious gourmet breakfast for two and a complimentary nightly social hour in the main parlor. Pamper seekers also receive a decadent treatment from the spa, which includes a 60-minute scented Swedish massage for two, a full-body salt scrub, and a romance-inducing jacuzzi adorned with sparkling cider and chocolate-covered fruits, chock-full of cuddle-inducing metachlorions.

A. I've never had a professional massage before. I am so excited, but a little nervous because I am so ticklish.
B. I've never really been to a spa before. Should be fun.
C. It was a bit pricey, but it's our V-day present and you only live once.
D. I love little adventures with Colin.

We bought it the night it came out and by the time we were able to call to book the room the next day (you have to wait about 24 hours after purchasing the groupon) there was no rooms left on our original night (the 19th) and only one on the 20th, so we got very lucky. We fly in Friday night. Saturday we will either go to the beach, see some Redwoods, or go to Tahoe. Sun we will do something in the morning and then go get our spa treatment that afternoon/evening. Monday we might do some shopping and then fly home. My mom and Jack are going to take care of the animals for us. We will have to find them something nice to bring back as a thank you.
